Big boys toys!

by Charlotte17 @ Friday, 18. May, 2007 - 12:21:39

This is a cake for a family friend - he's in the RAF and a volunteer for the local lifeboats, hence the boat and jet! Also a would-be keen surfer - but that's a family thing!!!! (Yes I remember watching you and Dad running into the surf in Cornwall, Rob. All these years I thought you were surf dudes!)

For a chocoholic.

by Charlotte17 @ Friday, 11. May, 2007 - 18:40:16

The recipient of this cake is a self confessed chocoholic. He has just turned 60 and loves going to the gym, but the chocolate will always come first. CHOCOLATE!!

Drunk at 50

by Charlotte17 @ Friday, 23. Mar, 2007 - 23:21:30

A request from a lady who didn't know what to have, but wanted something along the lines of Law. So emerged the drunken solicitor!

A selection of my Christening Cakes. So different to the average frilly and heavily iced cake you see around !

The 'Foot'

by Charlotte17 @ Thursday, 22. Mar, 2007 - 20:08:57

This is the beginning of the 'Foot' cake. Strangely, for the same family as the Gothic Skull! The birthday boy in question is studying something to do with Forensic Science at Uni. The finished photo should be worth waiting for (I hope!).

The Foot is finished - crusty toenails and decomposing flesh! Great!

The Wedding Cakes

by Charlotte17 @ Saturday, 10. Mar, 2007 - 20:10:41

These are some of the many wedding cakes I have made, hopefully showing that not everyone wants the same old thing. The Bride & Groom cake, to my knowledge, was never cut as they loved it so much (!) and the Black & White cake was a gift for my sister's wedding. The Mexican blue flower is a flower traditionally used at funerals in Mexico - however I didn't have the heart to tell the bride!
To make a wedding cake is so stressful; the pressure to provide something unique and exactly to the bride's requirements is immense. Hence the money charged to make them!

Gothic Skull Cake

by Charlotte17 @ Friday, 09. Mar, 2007 - 21:00:59

Now, this was a request for an 18 year old girl. She is Gothic and obsessed with skulls etc. In an attempt to make it a touch more 'girly', I made a black rose from sugar and scattered sugar roses petals. I would have loved to have dyed the cake inside red, how fab to have cut it open to find a blood red sponge!!!
